Minn Kota Maxxum 40
The Minn Kota Maxxum 40 transom mount trolling motor is an excellent
choice for your Good Dog boat. It weighs about 22lbs and clamps
onto the transom. The motor has 40lbs thrust of power and includes
Minn Kota’s “Maxxum” technology which extends battery
life by making the current draw directly match the throttle setting.
This motor also has a built-in battery meter and a continuous throttle
which means that you can set the throttle to precisely match your
desired trolling speed (versus a notched throttle).
Minn Kota Endura 30
The Minn Kota Endura transom mount motor is also a good choice for
your Good Dog. It weighs only 16lbs and has a maximum power
output of 30lbs thrust. The Endura has a notched throttle control
with 5 forward speeds and 3 reverse speeds and draws a constant approximately
30 Amps from your battery.
Deep Cycle, Group 24 Battery
We recommend the Group 24 size class of Deep Cycle battery for your
Good Dog boat. This size class strikes a good balance between
weight (weighs about 45lbs) and battery life (2 hrs of maximum throttle
or an afternoon of typical fishing).
Good Dog Electric Motor Ready Package
The Good Dog Electric Motor Ready Package includes the items required
to outfit your boat with the Electric Motor System capability described
in the Features section. This package includes
a Good Dog battery platform, battery box, two Marinco trolling motor
connectors, a battery wiring harness, and 15 feet of 10 gauge marine-grade
tinned copper cable.
Good Dog Battery Platform
The Good Dog Battery platform is made of marine-grade ½”
thick Starboard plastic and comes standard with slots for a battery
box strap. The platform is sold with four Quick-Change thumb
screws to secure the platform to your Good Dog boat.
Minn Kota Battery Charger
Minn Kota’s battery charger will bring your Group 24 size Deep
Cycle battery to full charge overnight. Note this charger is
not intended for use with Gel batteries. If you have a gel-type
Deep Cycle battery please contact us and we will advise you on a suitable
charger.
